Paris Saint-Germain dealt triple injury blow after Barcelona victory

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suffered a serious right knee injury during their 4-2 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

Medical tests showed that the Georgia winger has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The club said he will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Kvaratskhelia was forced off during the second half after appearing to suffer the injury. Further examinations have since confirmed the severity of the problem and the need for surgical treatment.

The length of his absence will not be known until after the operation and the start of his rehabilitation. His injury is a significant setback for Luis Enrique, who will be without one of Paris Saint-Germain’s leading attacking players for the foreseeable future.

The French club also provided negative updates on two other players involved in the match against Barcelona.

Ousmane Dembele will continue to receive treatment over the coming weeks after sustaining an injury to his left thigh muscle. Brazil defender Marquinhos is also expected to undergo treatment during the same period after suffering a right thigh muscle injury in the match.

Paris Saint-Germain therefore ended their 4-2 victory with three significant injury concerns. The club’s coaching staff, led by Luis Enrique, will now await further developments on the players’ fitness before their upcoming commitments.
