Ilyes Hamache makes Cambuur history with goal against AZ Alkmaar
Ilyes Hamache continued his impressive start in the Netherlands by scoring his fourth Eredivisie goal of the season as Cambuur faced AZ Alkmaar on Sunday, becoming only the third player in the club’s history to score in three consecutive home league matches.
The French-Algerian winger has quickly established himself since moving to the Netherlands during the transfer window, with his recent performances suggesting he is adapting well to Dutch football.
Hamache started the match against AZ Alkmaar, who arrived as the second-placed team in the league, and made his presence felt with another important contribution in front of goal.
Cambuur took the lead before their opponents drew level, setting up a competitive encounter between the two sides. However, Hamache restored his team’s advantage in the 39th minute with a well-taken finish that highlighted his attacking quality.
The 23-year-old collected the opportunity on the edge of the penalty area before curling a right-footed effort into the far corner of the net. His finish gave the home side the lead again and marked his fourth goal in the Eredivisie this season.
The strike also continued a remarkable run of form on home soil for the winger, who has now scored four goals across his last three home appearances.
His consistency in front of goal has brought him into Cambuur’s record books. Hamache has become just the third player in the club’s history to score in three consecutive Eredivisie home matches, joining Michael Mols and Sander van de Streek.
Mols previously achieved the feat in 1993, while Van de Streek recorded the same milestone in 2015. Hamache’s achievement places him alongside two players who had previously managed the run for the club.
The winger’s latest goal further underlines the impact he has made since arriving in the Netherlands. Having found the net regularly in recent home matches, he is becoming an important attacking option for Cambuur.
His performance against a high-ranking AZ Alkmaar side also provided another opportunity to demonstrate his ability to influence matches at Eredivisie level.
With four goals in his last three home games, Hamache will look to maintain his scoring form as the season continues. His growing contribution has already earned him a place in Cambuur’s history, marking an encouraging chapter in his Dutch football career.
