Morocco have qualified for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after beating Libya 7-1 in the second leg of their qualifying tie on Sunday.
Marco Octavio’s side secured an 11-3 aggregate victory at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora, sealing their place at the finals in Senegal.
Amine El Bidouri and Badr El Kraichly each scored a hat-trick, while Ayoub Hichou added the other goal as Morocco completed a comprehensive win.
The Atlas Lions, three-time bronze medallists, will now travel to Dakar for the final tournament, which will be held from 28 November to 6 December.
Their arrival in Senegal could attract particular attention because of the continuing dispute between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The Confederation of African Football’s Appeal Jury reversed the result in Morocco’s favour on 17 March, after Senegal’s players withdrew from the pitch. The decision has contributed to tensions between the two countries, with both sides continuing to regard themselves as the true champions of Africa.
The FSF has taken the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). All parties, including CAF, were heard on 8 October, and the verdict is expected to bring an end to the dispute.
