TS Galaxy close in on Admir Adzem appointment as visa process delays announcement

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi says the club’s new head coach cannot be formally announced until the Europe-based coach completes the visa process.

Soccer Laduma understands that the Rockets have reached an agreement with Bosnian coach Admir Adzem, who has emerged as the leading candidate to take charge of the club.

Sukazi confirmed that the appointment was nearing completion but declined to name the coach.

“We have reached an agreement with a Europe-based coach. He is still waiting for the date of his visa interview,” Sukazi told Metro FM.

“The situation is such that as soon as he gets the date, he goes for an interview and the next day he will be on the plane to South Africa. We would want to believe that we have picked the right man for the job,” he added.

Although Sukazi did not identify the coach, Soccer Laduma has been informed that the agreement is with Adzem. The publication had earlier reported that the Bosnian had become a strong contender for the position.

The delay is therefore linked to the timing of Adzem’s visa interview. Once the interview date is secured, he is expected to travel to South Africa the following day, according to Sukazi.

Galaxy’s previous options

Sukazi also acknowledged that Adnan Beganovic had been the club’s first choice for the role, as previously reported by Soccer Laduma.

The chairman said former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic could also have been considered, but the Serbian’s salary expectations made an agreement unrealistic.

Sukazi explained that Ramovic had been earning more than R1 Million at his recent clubs, a level TS Galaxy could not afford.

Ramovic has since left TS Galaxy and gone on to manage Tanzanian club Young Africans and Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

The club is also dealing with uncertainty over the coaching position in its DStv Diski Challenge team.

Former coach Bernard Parker appears to have turned down the opportunity to become head coach of the DDC side. Had he accepted the role, current DDC coach Esau Mtsweni would have moved into the senior team as assistant coach.

TS Galaxy have yet to officially announce their new head coach, with the visa process now the remaining step before the appointment can be confirmed.
