Morocco’s Gessime Yassine reportedly close to Chelsea move from Strasbourg
Moroccan winger Guéssime Yassine is reportedly close to joining Chelsea from French club Strasbourg, although no official announcement has confirmed a transfer.
The 20-year-old right winger has attracted attention over a possible move to the Premier League, with Christophe Lolicon, a former Chelsea goalkeeper coach, suggesting that the switch could be nearing completion.
Speaking to French newspaper Ouest-France, Lolicon discussed Yassine’s situation at Strasbourg. Get French Football News quoted him as saying that the Moroccan “is practically at Chelsea”.
However, the reported move remains unconfirmed.
Chelsea link emerges through BlueCo ownership
Chelsea and Strasbourg are both part of the BlueCo ownership group, which has previously facilitated moves involving players from the French club to the English side.
Those transfers include Valentin Barco, Mamadou Sarr and Emmanuel Emegha.
Yassine joined Strasbourg from Dunkirk in January 2026 in a deal reportedly worth about €7m. His contract with the French club runs until 30 June 2030.
A potential move to Chelsea would represent another step in the young Moroccan’s career, but its completion depends on developments between the clubs.
Moroccan winger makes progress at Strasbourg
Yassine has shown promise since moving to Strasbourg, with his performances attracting attention during his time in French football.
He made 25 appearances during the 2025-26 season, scoring two goals and providing three assists, according to the report.
The winger also impressed against Lens last August, earning the player-of-the-match award.
His market value was estimated at €12m in the June 2026 update published by Transfermarkt, compared with the reported €7m Strasbourg paid to sign him from Dunkirk.
Potential Premier League opportunity
Born in Salon-de-Provence, France, on 22 November 2005, Yassine holds Moroccan citizenship and plays as a right winger.
He developed through youth football before progressing at Dunkirk and subsequently moving to Strasbourg, where he continued his development in the French top flight.
A move to Chelsea would give the Moroccan international an opportunity to continue his career in the Premier League. For now, however, the reported transfer remains unconfirmed as attention turns to the next developments in his future.
