Adil Bourabaa faces three-month layoff after ankle surgery
Le Mans midfielder Adil Bourabaa is expected to miss the remainder of 2026 after deciding to undergo ankle surgery following an injury sustained during international duty with Algeria.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, recording three goals and two assists in five Ligue 1 appearances. However, his progress has now been interrupted by an injury that could keep him out of action for at least three months.
According to Foot Mercato, Bourabaa and his representatives opted for surgery after consulting several specialists, with the procedure aimed at reducing the risk of a recurrence. The operation was scheduled for Friday, October 16, and his return is expected in early 2027.
Le Mans coach Patrick Videira had already expressed concern about the midfielder’s condition during Thursday’s press conference, admitting that the initial medical assessments were not encouraging.
“For now, the news is not reassuring,” Videira said, explaining that the club was awaiting specialist opinions before determining the most appropriate course of action.
The coach also acknowledged the emotional difficulty of the situation, as Bourabaa faces the first major injury setback of his career.
His absence represents a significant blow for Le Mans, with the midfielder having quickly established himself as an influential figure in the team’s early-season performances. His recent form also earned him his first appearance for Algeria’s senior national team against Niger.
Bourabaa will now focus on his recovery, with Le Mans hoping he can return to full fitness and resume his development next year.
