Nasser Mansi strikes late as Zamalek edge Rwandan Army in CAF Champions League

Zamalek forward Nasser Mansi scored in the 90th minute to secure a late victory over the Rwandan Army in the first leg of their CAF Champions League round-of-32 tie.

Mansi found the decisive goal after being set up by an excellent pass from Isho, giving Zamalek an important advantage before the return fixture.

The goal was Mansi’s second of the season for Zamalek. His first came in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, when he scored against AS Port, the champions of Djibouti.

Zamalek won that second-leg match 4-0 to complete their progress from the preliminary stage.

Mansi has now made seven appearances for Zamalek this season, playing four matches in the Egyptian league and three in the CAF Champions League.

The forward has scored eight goals in African competitions overall. Five have come in the CAF Champions League, two in the CAF Confederation Cup and one in the Super Cup.

Zamalek will host the Rwandan Army in the second leg on Saturday 24 October at Cairo Stadium.

The Egyptian club are competing in the CAF Champions League for the first time after a three-season absence.
