Strasbourg v Paris Saint-Germain: Ferran Torres tipped to score as PSG chase fourth straight Ligue 1 win

Paris Saint-Germain travel to RC Strasbourg on Saturday, 17 October 2026 at 17:15 GMT, aiming to continue their recovery in Ligue 1 and move closer to the top three.

The match is part of the seventh round of the season and presents contrasting challenges. Strasbourg are looking to halt a run of disappointing results, while the defending champions arrive on a three-match winning run. Mahamad Sangare, presenter of the sports debate programme La VAR on Burkina info TV, has assessed the fixture and identified PSG as the favourites.

Strasbourg began the campaign with notable wins over Lens (2-1) and Troyes (6-2), but their form has since dipped. A 1-1 draw with Monaco was followed by successive 2-1 defeats against Paris FC and Nice. The Alsace club sit 11th and need greater attacking efficiency and defensive resilience if they are to challenge PSG at the Meinau.

The hosts have, however, had a full week to prepare for the visit of the champions.

PSG’s first Ligue 1 victory did not arrive until the fourth round, when they defeated Brest 1-0. Luis Enrique’s side have since beaten Marseille 2-1 and Le Mans 3-1 to make it three consecutive league wins, lifting them to sixth, three points behind the leaders.

Their confidence was strengthened further by a 4-2 Champions League victory away to Manchester City, following a 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava. That result made it five successive victories in all competitions. PSG’s next European fixture is against FC Barcelona on Tuesday, which could lead to rotation and managed minutes for some senior players.

Gessime Yassine, Giovanni Reyna and Conrad Harder are expected to provide Strasbourg’s main creative threat. Joaquin Panichelli, Martial Godo, Sebastian Nanasi and Ismael Doukoure are all reported absent, with the loss of Doukoure potentially weakening the defence and Nanasi’s absence reducing attacking options.

PSG can call on Ferran Torres, Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi. Senny Mayulu is out with a groin injury, while Alessandro Longoni is also listed as unavailable by some sources. Dembele and Nuno Mendes have returned after a period of rest and are available to Luis Enrique.

The head-to-head record strongly favours PSG, who have lost only once in their past 18 meetings with Strasbourg and have won 12. Strasbourg’s most recent victory came at the Meinau, a 2-1 success in May 2025.

Strasbourg have scored 10 goals in their past five matches, compared with nine for PSG. Both teams have scored in their last five meetings.

The recommended bets are PSG to win at 1.46, both teams to score at 1.45, and more than 2.5 goals at 1.28. “Each team to score two or more goals – no” is priced at 1.269.

A total of fewer than 10.5 corners is offered at 1.35, with six of the teams’ past seven Ligue 1 meetings producing 10 corners or fewer. Ferran Torres is the 1.95 anytime goalscorer pick after scoring four league goals, while the suggested correct score is 1-3 at 9.5.

Odds are subject to change.
