Moroccan striker Tawfik Bentayeb impresses in Belgium with clinical finishing for Anderlecht
Moroccan striker Tawfik Bentayeb is attracting attention in Belgium after scoring in each of Anderlecht’s last three league matches, underlining his ability to make the most of limited opportunities in front of goal.
The graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy has scored three times in those matches, with a Belgian sports newspaper highlighting his efficiency despite receiving relatively few clear chances.
According to the publication, Bentayeb’s expected goals total across the three games stood at 1.19, significantly below his actual return of three goals.
Moroccan forward makes chances count
Bentayeb’s recent performances have highlighted his clinical finishing, with the newspaper noting that the striker does more than simply wait for opportunities inside the penalty area.
He regularly drops deeper to receive possession, contributes to his team’s build-up play and presses opponents when they have the ball.
His physical output also reflects that work rate. The figures cited by the newspaper show that he covers about 11 kilometres and makes approximately 12 high-intensity runs every 90 minutes, numbers it described as more typical of a dynamic midfielder or full-back.
Impressive conversion rate
Despite taking relatively few shots, Bentayeb has maintained an impressive scoring rate.
The newspaper reported that his overall shot-to-goal conversion rate stands at 30%, meaning roughly three out of every 10 attempts result in a goal.
His recent run has been even more productive: he scored three goals from eight shots across his last three league appearances, converting 38% of his attempts.
That efficiency has helped put the Moroccan forward in the spotlight as he continues to adapt to Belgian football.
Bentayeb arrives after prolific season in France
Bentayeb joined Anderlecht during the summer transfer window from French club Troyes in a deal worth €4.5m, including bonuses.
He arrived in Belgium after finishing the previous season as the top scorer in France’s second division with 20 goals.
His latest scoring run suggests he is continuing to deliver the finishing that made him stand out in France, while his movement and work rate offer Anderlecht additional contributions beyond goals.
