Newcastle United are monitoring Valencia winger David Otorbi after sending two scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action against Racing Santander.
The club’s representatives attended the 2-2 draw at El Sardinero, where Otorbi came off the bench and made an immediate impact on the right wing.
The Spain-born Nigeria international levelled the match by cutting inside before finishing a pass from Javi Guerra. It was his first goal of the season in Liga.
Otorbi remained a threat to the Racing Santander defence until stoppage time, while his ability to compete in physical challenges also impressed Newcastle’s recruitment team.
The teenager is under contract with Valencia until June 2028, having signed an extension in April. He is regarded as one of the most promising players to emerge from the club’s academy.
According to Transfermarkt, Otorbi’s current market value is €3.5m.
Newcastle are looking to strengthen during the winter transfer window after a difficult campaign in the league and have turned their attention to Spain.
Valencia’s next fixture is against Athletic Bilbao in the ninth round of the Spanish championship.
