Achraf Hakimi makes PSG history

Achraf Hakimi became Paris Saint-Germain’s most-capped foreign full-back after making his 215th official appearance for the French champions in their 3-1 Ligue 1 victory over Le Mans.

The Morocco international captained PSG at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, surpassing former Brazilian defender Maxwell, who made 214 appearances for the club between 2012 and 2017.

The milestone further underlines Hakimi’s growing influence at the French club, where he has established himself as a key player since joining from Inter Milan in July 2021.

Hakimi surpasses Maxwell’s record

According to statistics cited by Goal and Stats Foot, the 27-year-old moved ahead of Maxwell to claim the record for the most official appearances by a foreign full-back in PSG’s history.

Hakimi started against Le Mans before being replaced by Desire Doue in the 72nd minute.

Lucas Beraldo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Maghnes Akliouche scored as PSG secured the victory, continuing their Ligue 1 campaign with three points.

The Moroccan’s achievement reflects his consistency and importance to the team since arriving in Paris, with his responsibilities extending beyond his performances on the pitch.

Morocco captain’s influence grows in Paris

PSG extended Hakimi’s contract until 2029 last year and described him as one of manager Luis Enrique’s vice-captains, highlighting his growing standing within the squad’s leadership group.

The defender has also played a significant role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

PSG won their first Champions League title in 2025, with Hakimi scoring the opening goal in a 5-0 final victory over his former club Inter Milan. The French side retained the European crown in 2026.

Those achievements have strengthened Hakimi’s place among the club’s influential players as he continues to add to his appearance tally.

PSG turn attention to Manchester City

Saturday’s win took PSG to 11 points from six Ligue 1 matches. The defending champions sat sixth in the table after the weekend’s fixtures.

Hakimi will have another opportunity to build on his record when PSG face Manchester City in the Champions League on Wednesday.
