Algeria completed their September-October 2026 international programme without defeat, collecting two wins and a draw across three matches. The Fennecs began their Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying campaign with a 3-1 victory over Zambia, drew 2-2 with Burundi in their second Group I fixture and then beat Niger 2-1 in a friendly.
The results leave Algeria top of Group I with four points after two rounds of qualifying. Zambia and Togo are each on three points, while Burundi have one point.
Their opening qualifier against Zambia provided an ideal start to the campaign as Algeria secured a convincing 3-1 win. However, the next match in Burundi presented a much tougher challenge.
Algeria conceded twice inside the opening 12 minutes and faced the prospect of a damaging defeat. Mohamed El Amine Belloumi pulled one goal back before Adil Boulbina equalised in the second half, completing the comeback and earning the visitors a point.
The Fennecs ended the window with another fightback in their friendly against Niger on 6 October. They fell behind in the 12th minute when Konan N’Dri scored, but Mohamed Elbachir Belloumi brought Algeria level in the 53rd minute.
Ramy Bensebaini then converted a penalty in the 72nd minute to secure a 2-1 victory and ensure Algeria finished the international period unbeaten.
