Zamalek winger Chico Banza has continued his criticism of the Slovenian officials after Al Ahly’s 2-0 victory over Zamalek in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The Angolan called the refereeing performance a “scandal” after Zamalek appealed for a penalty when Al Ahly defender Achraf Dari challenged Banza inside the area.
Writing on his official Facebook page, Banza said: “This is not refereeing, it is a scandal! Serious mistakes and shameful decisions ruined the match and stole the spotlight from the players. It is a real disaster that distorts the image of football.”
The result gave Al Ahly their 53rd league victory over Zamalek in the derby. Zamalek have won 29 of the meetings, while 51 have ended in draws.
Al Ahly have now won the last four derbies between the sides in all competitions.
The defeat was also Moataz Gamal’s second against Al Ahly in two matches as Zamalek manager. His side lost 3-0 last season before suffering a 2-0 defeat in the current campaign.
Houcine Ammouta, meanwhile, began his first derby in charge with victory over Zamalek.
Al Ahly moved temporarily to the top of the table on 16 points. Zamalek suffered their first defeat of the season but remained third on 13 points.
Zamalek’s next match is away to the Rwandan Army on Friday, 16 October, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
