Morocco star Hakim Ziyech earns plaudit from Botafogo coach Tite after impressive start

Botafogo coach Tite has praised the technical qualities of Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, highlighting his versatility in attack and his ability to provide the Brazilian side with different tactical options.

The experienced Brazilian tactician believes Ziyech’s ability to operate as an attacking midfielder or on either flank makes him an important asset as Botafogo seek to improve their attacking play.

Tite explained that the former Chelsea and Ajax star possesses the vision, creativity and movement required to excel as a traditional number 10, particularly through his ability to find spaces between opposition defensive and midfield lines.

The coach also revealed that Ziyech has played more minutes than initially anticipated, with the team’s need for his technical qualities influencing his involvement.

According to Tite, the Moroccan’s adaptability gives the technical team greater flexibility when selecting the starting lineup and determining the roles of players in the final third.

The Botafogo coach also discussed the competition for the playmaking position, noting that Medina can operate in the role but offers a different approach from Ziyech.

Montoro had also been considered an option for the position before an ankle injury disrupted his availability and forced the coaching staff to reconsider their plans.

Tite further explained that Danilo Pereira brings a different dimension to the team’s attacking structure, with his tendency to carry the ball forward vertically and connect with the forwards distinguishing him from a conventional playmaker.

These differences make Ziyech a valuable option for Botafogo as they look to vary their attacking approach and create opportunities through different combinations in the final third.

The coach’s remarks come after Ziyech featured in his first two matches for the Brazilian club, with the Moroccan international attracting positive reactions from supporters who have welcomed his technical ability and creativity.

Ziyech, renowned for his left-footed passing, vision and ability to unlock defences, will be hoping to build on his early appearances as he settles into life at Botafogo and establishes himself as an influential figure in the team’s attacking setup.
