Sion Oppong scored his first goal for Toulouse FC as they fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with AS Monaco in Ligue 1.
The 19-year-old forward struck in the 59th minute to complete Toulouse’s second-half revival and secure a valuable point away to the league leaders on the sixth matchday.
Toulouse had been outplayed before the interval and went into half-time trailing by two goals. However, the visitors returned with greater attacking intent and determination, quickly reducing the deficit before taking control of the match.
Oppong’s equaliser came after Casper Tengstedt delivered a precise cross into the area. The Sweden-born forward of Ghanaian origin attacked the ball at the far post and finished with a low effort to bring the scores level.
It was Oppong’s first goal in Toulouse colours and his first of the season. His composed finish and sharp anticipation proved decisive in a match that had initially gone badly for the visitors.
The goal also gave Toulouse the platform to complete their comeback and leave Monaco with a point. Oppong’s contribution ensured the teenager made a significant impact on a major occasion.
