Mehdi Jeannin’s impressive start to the season in five key numbers

Mehdi Jeannin has made a strong start to the Ligue 2 BKT campaign with FC Sochaux-Montbeliard, helping his side establish an impressive defensive record. The goalkeeper’s consistency and important saves are reflected in five statistics from his first eight league appearances.

Four clean sheets in eight matches

Jeannin has kept four clean sheets in eight Ligue 2 BKT games, meaning he has prevented opponents from scoring in half of his appearances. That record places the FC Sochaux-Montbeliard goalkeeper at the top of the league’s clean-sheet standings.

The figure underlines both his reliability and his ability to keep Sochaux in matches by protecting their goal.

0.71 goals conceded per game

Sochaux have conceded five goals in the eight matches in which Jeannin has featured. That gives him an average of 0.71 goals conceded per game.

The ratio further demonstrates the goalkeeper’s contribution to the team’s defensive organisation during the opening weeks of the season.

84.2% save percentage

Jeannin saved 84.2% of the shots on target he faced during August. That performance puts him fourth among the goalkeepers in the championship for that measure.

His save percentage highlights his effectiveness when the Sochaux defence has been tested and his ability to make the interventions required to preserve his team’s position in games.

81.7% of the vote for player of the month

The goalkeeper’s performances have also been recognised by FC Sochaux-Montbeliard supporters. Jeannin received 81.7% of the votes to be named the club’s player of the month for August.

The result reflects the importance supporters have attached to his displays and to his role in Sochaux’s defensive performances.

Average rating of 7.20

Jeannin has recorded an average rating of 7.20 on the statistics website Prematchstats. That mark places him among the highest-rated players in his position since the start of the campaign.

Together with his four clean sheets, strong save percentage and recognition from supporters, the rating provides another indication of his consistency in goal.

After his encouraging opening to the season, Jeannin will now look to maintain that level and continue helping FC Sochaux-Montbeliard work towards its objectives in Ligue 2 BKT.
