Chelsea have confirmed that Cole Palmer has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2034.
The England international, 24, had already been under contract for the next seven years but has agreed to add a further 12 months to his deal. The extension includes improved financial terms in recognition of his importance to the London club, according to The Athletic.
Chelsea announced the news on their official X account on 10 October 2026, posting a picture of Palmer alongside the year 2034 and the message: “A statement of intent.”
The agreement ends speculation over Palmer’s future, with the playmaker having previously been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. However, he told The Guardian in April that he had no plans to leave Chelsea.
Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 and has made 138 appearances for the club, scoring 58 goals and providing 34 assists.
He played a key role in Chelsea’s success in 2025, when they won both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Palmer scored twice in the FIFA Club World Cup final as Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain.
The new deal is part of Chelsea’s wider effort to retain their leading players. Several important members of the squad have signed contract extensions during 2026, including captain Reece James, midfielder Moises Caicedo, striker Joao Pedro and winger Pedro Neto.
Palmer has made a strong start to the current campaign, scoring four goals and supplying two assists in Chelsea’s first seven matches in all competitions.
Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, are currently 10th in the Premier League table.
Palmer was included in the latest England squad announced by manager Thomas Tuchel but withdrew from the group because he needed to manage his physical workload.
