Academie Basga Jo has appointed Franco-Serbian Darko Janackovic as its new sporting director, with the club officially presenting him on Friday, 9 October 2026.
Janackovic was introduced by Sosthene Sanou, the club’s vice-president, and will be responsible for using his experience to support the academy’s development and help it meet its objectives.
The length of his contract has not been disclosed. Club officials said, however, that his work with Academie Basga Jo would be assessed according to the results achieved and the progress made during his time in the role.
That approach places performance and the academy’s development at the centre of Janackovic’s responsibilities as he begins his work with the Burkina Faso-based structure.
The new sporting director brings international experience from spells in Nigeria, Belgium, Algeria and Sweden. He said he was ready to commit himself fully to Academie Basga Jo and contribute to the organisation of its sporting operations.
Janackovic also intends to help the academy move towards the targets set by its leadership, as the club seeks to strengthen its structure and make progress under his direction.
