Valentin Atangana targets Saudi league title after extending Al-Ahli Saudi contract

French midfielder Valentin Atangana says he is determined to win the Saudi league with Al-Ahli Saudi after extending his contract with the club until 2029.

The 21-year-old played a part in Al-Ahli Saudi’s AFC Champions League triumph and described that success as the best memory of his career so far.

“I am very happy to have renewed my contract with Al-Ahli, and I would like to thank the club’s board and the chief executive for the confidence they have shown in me,” Atangana said through the club’s media centre.

“It is not easy to renew contracts at big clubs, and I am looking forward to achieving many more successes with the club in the coming period.”

Atangana said the AFC Champions League final remained the highlight of his time at Al-Ahli Saudi.

“My best memory was when we won the AFC Champions League,” he added. “The atmosphere at the end of the match was crazy, and that is the best memory I have experienced.”

He now hopes to help the club end its wait for the domestic title.

“My next step is to win the league because we have not won it for a long time,” Atangana said. “I also want to win more cups.”

He also thanked Al-Ahli Saudi’s supporters and called for their backing in the club’s next match.

“I thank the Al-Ahli fans for their support. You are always with us, and we need your support in the next match,” he said. “I have missed you very much.”

Atangana joined Al-Ahli Saudi in the summer of 2025 from Stade de Reims.
