Napoli face Frosinone test as surprise package target Serie A landmark

Napoli will look to maintain their strong record against Frosinone when the two sides meet in the sixth round of Serie A, with their opponents aiming to extend an impressive start to the 2026-27 season.

Napoli have won five of their six previous league meetings with Frosinone, according to Opta. The other match was a 2-2 draw at the Diego Armando Maradona on 14 April 2024.

They have scored at least twice in each of those six matches, producing 20 goals in total at an average of 3.3 per game.

Napoli have also won their last six matches against teams newly promoted to Serie A, scoring 15 goals and conceding only two. They have recorded longer winning runs against newly promoted sides just twice: seven victories between 1987 and 1988, and 15 between 2016 and 2019.

After drawing 1-1 with Fiorentina in their previous match, Napoli could record consecutive Serie A draws for the first time since January. They drew three successive games then, against Hellas Verona, Inter and Parma.

Frosinone have collected 10 points from their opening five matches. The last newly promoted team to take at least 10 points from its first five games was Sampdoria, who earned 11 in 2012-13.

A victory would give Frosinone at least 13 points after six matches, making them the first newly promoted side to reach that total in a single Serie A season since Juventus collected 13 points in 2007-08.

Napoli have drawn just once in their last 23 Serie A matches played after international breaks, alongside 16 wins and six defeats. That draw was a 2-2 result against Genoa on 16 September 2023. More broadly, they have won seven of their last eight league matches and lost one.

Massimiliano Allegri has suffered nine Serie A defeats during 2026. The last time he lost 10 or more league matches in a calendar year was in 2012, when he endured 11 defeats.

Frosinone lead Serie A for defensive pressure this season, allowing opponents an average of 9.5 passes before making a defensive action, measured by PPDA. Napoli are 10th with an average of 13.5.

Frosinone have also launched 13 fast breaks, more than any other team, with 12 ending in a shot. Napoli are joint second-bottom in both categories, managing two fast breaks and one resulting shot. Bologna are bottom, without a fast break or a shot from one.

Matteo Politano has scored three Serie A goals against Frosinone, at a rate of one every 118 minutes. His only better scoring rate against another side is against Benevento, where he scores every 99 minutes. Gonzalo Higuain, Andrea Belotti and Duvan Zapata have scored five times against Frosinone in the top flight, while Suso has four.

Frosinone’s Giorgi Kvernadze has scored in each of his last three league appearances and could become the first player in the club’s history to score in four successive Serie A matches. Matias Soule also scored in three consecutive games in October 2023. Kvernadze leads the league for successful dribbles this season, with 16.
