Paris FC have agreed a one-year contract extension with midfielder Adama Camara, keeping the 29-year-old at the club until 2028, according to Le Parisien.
The new deal follows a significant period in Camara’s career, during which he made his first two appearances for Mali during the latest international break.
Paris FC had made retaining the midfielder a priority in recent weeks, with negotiations eventually resulting in an agreement that reflects his rapid development since joining the club.
Camara has become an increasingly important part of the Parisian side’s plans. His reliability has allowed him to establish himself as the club’s demands have grown, while his progress has continued through successive levels of French football.
From non-league football to Ligue 1
Camara’s route into the professional game has been unusual. He joined Paris FC from Racing CFF, then playing in National 2, in the summer of 2023.
Already 26 at the time, the Malian was only beginning his professional career. Before joining the club, he had worked in a number of jobs, including as a postman, bus driver and delivery driver.
His rise since then has been swift. Camara moved from National 2 to Ligue 2 with Paris FC before making the further step up to Ligue 1.
The midfielder’s progress has also been reflected in his record for the club. He has now passed 100 league appearances for Paris FC, making 66 appearances in Ligue 2 and 34 in Ligue 1.
That milestone underlines the scale of his transformation after spending his earlier years away from the spotlight of professional football. He is now an international with Mali and has secured his future in the capital for at least the next two seasons.
Paris FC will soon play their sixth-round match in the French championship against Lorient.
