Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab faces battle for minutes
Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab is currently struggling to secure regular playing time at Eintracht Frankfurt under coach Adi Hutter, with competition for attacking positions pushing the winger down the pecking order.
Hütter rejected the idea that the 21-year-old has simply become a victim of the team’s tactical system. “I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a victim of the system,” the Frankfurt coach explained.
While a three-man defence can leave one attacking player with fewer opportunities, Hütter pointed to the performances of Can Uzun and Ritsu Doan as another reason for Amaimouni-Echghouyab’s reduced role.
“He’s taking a bit of a back seat at the moment, but he’s still training well and really putting in the effort,” Hütter added.
Amaimouni-Echghouyab has appeared in all four of Frankfurt’s Bundesliga matches this season, but has started only one and accumulated 104 minutes. He has yet to register a goal or assist in the league.
The Moroccan attacker did score in Frankfurt’s DFB-Pokal victory over St. Tönis, highlighting the attacking threat he can provide.
Hütter views him as a more traditional winger, although the player is working on becoming comfortable in other positions. More opportunities could therefore depend on his performances in training.
