Barcelona have welcomed back the remainder of their international players following the conclusion of the latest international break, with the squad now complete two days before Saturday’s La Liga meeting with Getafe.
The returning players reported back over the course of the week, with the final arrivals coming on Thursday. The last group to rejoin the club were the members of the Spain squad.
Brazil forward Raphinha remains the exception. He is still training separately after suffering an injury while on international duty and has not yet returned to full training with his team-mates.
Egypt striker Hamza Abdelkarim had already resumed work with Barcelona on Tuesday, following his return from duty with the Egypt national team. He took part in Thursday’s team session, which also included Germany forward Karim Adeyemi after his return to the club.
Frenkie de Jong also trained with the group for the first time since sustaining a knee injury. His return provides another boost to Barcelona’s preparations for their upcoming league fixture.
Barcelona will host Getafe on Saturday in the next round of the Spanish league, with the club completing its preparations after the disruption caused by the international break.
Abdelkarim returns to domestic football having scored his first international goal during Egypt’s recent matches. He came off the bench to score against South Sudan in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The former Al Ahly striker featured in all three of Egypt’s games during the international period, although each appearance came as a substitute. His matches were against Angola, South Sudan and South Africa.
His goal against South Sudan was the first of his international career and came after he was introduced from the bench. He will now join Barcelona’s preparations for the visit of Getafe, while Raphinha continues his individual rehabilitation away from the main training group.
