Hassan Kadesh to undergo surgery with Saudi Arabia Asian Cup place in doubt

Al-Ittihad defender Hassan Kadesh is set to have surgery after suffering a thigh-muscle injury while playing for Saudi Arabia against Oman in the Gulf Cup on 26 September.

The Saudi club said Kadesh will undergo the operation on Friday in Turku, Finland.

The decision followed medical examinations carried out at the club, as well as consultations with a number of specialists.

Kadesh is expected to be sidelined for between two and three months following the procedure.

That recovery period has raised doubts over whether he will be fit to play in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia in January next year.

Kadesh helped Saudi Arabia win Gulf Cup 27, with a 2-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates in the final.
