Angola moved up to second place in Group C of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after beating Malawi 3-1 in the final match of the second round.
The result leaves Angola on four points, level with leaders Egypt but behind them on goal difference after two matches.
Former Al Ittihad Alexandria striker Cristovao Maboulou scored Angola’s second goal, while Zamalek winger Chico Banza remained an unused substitute throughout the match.
Angola made a fast start, taking the lead after three minutes. Maboulou doubled their advantage in the 38th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Malawi reduced the deficit before the interval when Kialonda Gaspar scored an own goal, but Angola restored their two-goal cushion in the 71st minute.
Miro had come on as a substitute three minutes earlier before scoring Angola’s third goal to complete the 3-1 victory.
Malawi drop to third in the group with three points, while South Sudan are bottom without a point.
Angola will play South Sudan twice in November, home and away, while Malawi’s next two matches will both be against Egypt.
