Kaizer Chiefs face an injury concern over Luke Baartman after the forward was forced off during South Africa U23’s 1-1 friendly draw with Algeria.
The 20-year-old attacker limped off with a thigh problem before half-time on Sunday and will now be examined by the Chiefs medical team. The club will assess the extent of the injury before domestic football resumes after the international break.
Baartman had established an important role in Chiefs’ attack, offering pace and energy during transitions. His possible absence could force the technical staff to consider different options in the forward line, with the squad’s depth likely to be tested immediately after the break.
The timing is particularly frustrating for the Glamour Boys, with Baartman having become a significant part of their early-season plans.
Chiefs return to action in the Betway Premiership in encouraging form. They remain unbeaten and are fourth in the table after recording three wins and four draws.
Their next fixture is against Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium on 13 October. Chiefs will be looking to maintain their unbeaten home record and remain in touch with the teams leading the league.
