Jamal Sellami set to take charge of Al-Fateh in Roshn Saudi League

Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami is close to becoming the new manager of Al-Fateh, with the club awaiting the final official approvals before confirming his appointment.

Sellami is expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to begin preparations for his new role, following an agreement between Al-Fateh and Saudi coach Khaled Al Atwi to end their association by mutual consent.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, Al-Fateh appointed Al Atwi on 21 July, although the length of his contract was not disclosed. His spell in charge has now ended after a short period, with both parties agreeing to his departure.

The final announcement of Sellami’s appointment is dependent on the completion of the necessary formalities. The 55-year-old is expected to replace Al Atwi once the required approvals have been secured.

Sellami brings extensive experience from Moroccan and Arab football. He began his coaching career in 2010 as an assistant within the Morocco national team set-up before taking charge of Hassania Agadir, Fath Union Sport and Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.

He also worked with Morocco’s youth national teams, managing the under-17 and under-20 sides. Sellami later returned to Difaa Hassani El Jadidi in 2019 before taking charge of Fath Union Sport once again.

In 2024, Sellami became manager of the Jordan national team. Under his leadership, Jordan secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a significant achievement in his coaching career.

That success has now placed Sellami on the verge of a move to the Roshn Saudi League, where he is set to begin a new chapter with Al-Fateh once the final approval process is complete.
