Jamal Sellami emerges as leading contender for Al-Fateh job after Khaled Al-Atwi exit
Al-Fateh are expected to part company with manager Khaled Al-Atwi by mutual consent, with former Jordan coach Jamal Sellami emerging as the leading candidate to take charge, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
The Saudi club have begun searching for a replacement after a poor run of results in the Saudi league. Sellami is understood to be the closest to taking over the team for the next stage of the season.
Al-Fateh’s difficult position in the table has increased the pressure on the club’s management. They are currently 15th, with three points from their opening seven matches.
Those points have come from three draws, while Al-Fateh have lost their other four fixtures since the start of the season.
Sellami was dismissed by the Jordan Football Association after the Jordan national team were eliminated in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan managed Jordan at the tournament in the United States, where the team lost all three of their group matches against Argentina, Algeria and Austria.
Jordan’s departure from the competition led to the decision to end Sellami’s tenure, with the national side unable to progress beyond the opening phase.
Before taking Jordan to the 2026 World Cup, Sellami guided them to the final of the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar. They were beaten by Morocco in the final.
