Real Madrid monitor Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as transfer battle intensifies

Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, adding a major new dimension to Chelsea and Liverpool’s pursuit of the 23-year-old England international.

According to TEAMtalk, the Spanish club have closely monitored Scott in recent weeks and sent scouts to watch him make his first start for England. That appearance came in a historic 7-0 victory over Croatia at Rijeka’s stadium.

The match was played behind closed doors, but scouts and representatives from clubs were permitted to attend. Scott’s performance further increased the attention surrounding a player who has become one of the Premier League’s most sought-after midfielders.

Madrid tracking Scott closely

Real Madrid’s interest is understood to have developed over a longer period rather than emerging suddenly. The club have watched Scott at least three times, with their most recent sighting coming during Bournemouth’s victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League in Spain last month.

The Spanish side are now considering whether to intensify their pursuit. Scott’s versatility is one of the qualities attracting interest, with the midfielder able to operate across all positions in the centre of the pitch.

His technical ability and growing experience at the highest level have also strengthened his appeal. Real Madrid have increasingly looked towards the Premier League over the past 18 months, with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton also having been among their targets.

The club’s successful experience with young English players is another factor behind their interest. Jude Bellingham has established himself as a key figure at the Santiago Bernabeu and is approaching a contract renewal.

Bournemouth determined to keep midfielder

Chelsea remain long-term admirers of Scott and are still regarded as the leading interested club, while Liverpool are also showing significant interest.

Real Madrid’s involvement could make the competition considerably more difficult for both Premier League clubs, particularly if the Spanish side decide to make a formal move in 2027.

Bournemouth are meanwhile working to renew Scott’s contract and have made clear they do not intend to allow him to leave during the upcoming January transfer window.

That stance is not expected to discourage Europe’s leading clubs from pursuing the midfielder. Italian club Milan are also monitoring developments, although they recognise that the expected asking price is more than £75m a figure currently beyond their financial capabilities.

Scott’s progress with England and the growing interest from major European clubs leave Bournemouth facing a difficult attempt to retain one of their most important players. Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid could now be heading towards a decisive summer contest over the midfielder’s future.
