Morocco have slipped to seventh in the live FIFA world rankings after being held to a 1-1 draw by Mali in a friendly on Sunday.
The match was played at the Grand Stade de Tanger, with the result costing Morocco two places after their recent rise to fifth in the standings.
Morocco had moved up following victories over Gabon and Lesotho in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying. Their progress was also helped by Brazil’s defeat by Australia, but the draw with Mali has now pushed them down to seventh.
Morocco currently have 1805.34 points, while Portugal have moved into fifth place with 1807.69. Portugal climbed above Morocco after beating Norway 2-1 in the fourth round of the Nations League.
Brazil occupy sixth place with 1806.51 points, meaning only a small points gap separates the three teams.
The changes at the top of the rankings have come alongside the latest results during the international break.
