Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Portugal camp as private jet heads to Riyadh

Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet has left for Saudi Arabia after the Portugal captain departed his country’s training camp, raising questions ahead of the Nations League meeting with Norway.

Ronaldo left the squad in anger and said on social media that his decision followed a press conference by coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

The Portugal forward said he would explain the circumstances to the Portuguese public when the time was right. He did not provide further details about the reasons for leaving the camp.

His aircraft was travelling to the Saudi capital, and Ronaldo is expected to arrive before Portugal’s match against Norway begins on Sunday evening. The fixture is part of the fourth round of the Nations League.

Portugal’s game against Norway will be the team’s second match since Ronaldo’s departure. They beat Denmark 4-2 on Thursday.
