“I am very proud of our journey during this AFCON. We worked very hard to win this bronze medal.
The credit goes to everyone, players, staff. Everyone on the team has contributed to our success.
This is by far the best team I have played with. We have written a new page in history.
The last time South Africa reached the last four was during the AFCON 2000,” declared Mokoena, representing Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

“Important deadlines await us, starting with the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. We have a delicate match in June against Nigeria.
We aspire to negotiate this match well and the other matches too. We want to compete in this World Cup.
During this AFCON, we showed great determination and unparalleled fighting spirit. We have to do the same thing to hope to compete in the World Cup,” explained Mokoena, underlining the team’s commitment to building on their AFCON success and reaching new heights in future competitions.
