UEFA urges Real Madrid to show patience over Negreira case

Real Madrid have been told to remain calm and patient while UEFA examines a 50,000-page dossier submitted by the club concerning the Negreira case involving Barcelona.

UEFA confirmed that it had received the documents after Real Madrid called for the investigation to be completed as quickly as possible and for the appropriate decisions to be made.

In an official statement, the club said: “Real Madrid considers it essential that, once UEFA is in possession of these documents, the investigation should proceed as quickly as possible until it is finally concluded, and that the competent bodies should take the appropriate decisions in line with the seriousness of the proven facts.”

The statement amounted to a request for UEFA to reach a decision on the case without delay.

However, UEFA’s response was that it would take whatever time was necessary to study all the material before deciding how to proceed.

Mundo Deportivo, citing OK Diario, reported that UEFA had informed Real Madrid that the club needed to exercise calm and patience as the matter was examined.

Real Madrid are understood to remain convinced that the case must be pursued to its conclusion. The club also intends to continue applying pressure until the file is resolved.
