Chelsea and Brighton monitoring fast-starting Relebohile Mofokeng

Chelsea and Brighton are keeping track of Relebohile Mofokeng after the South African made an immediate impression at Union Saint-Gilloise, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old joined the Belgian club from Orlando Pirates during the summer transfer window for about 3.5 million euros and has adapted quickly to the demands of European football. Under manager David Hubert, Mofokeng has already scored four goals.

His early form has reinforced the reputation he built during his first appearances for South Africa, where he emerged as one of the country’s most promising young players. The forward, who was born in Sharpeville, has also continued to attract attention with his performances for the Bafana Bafana.

Before moving to Europe, Mofokeng spent two seasons with Orlando Pirates. He scored 23 goals and provided 22 assists in 85 appearances for the South African club.

His display against Eritrea further strengthened his standing as one of the leading emerging talents in African football. That progress has now brought him onto the radar of Premier League clubs, with Chelsea and Brighton both reported to be following his development.

Mofokeng signed a contract with Union Saint-Gilloise that runs until 2030. Transfermarkt currently estimates the market value of the South Africa international at 3 million euros, below the approximately 3.5 million euros paid for him during the summer.

Union Saint-Gilloise are due to face Louvain in their eighth league match of the season.
