Comoros and Senegal meet for first time in Marseille friendly

Comoros and Senegal will face one another for the first time at senior international level when they meet in a friendly at Marseille’s CEPAC Velodrome on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 GMT, with the match available on RTS 1, Canal+ Sport Afrique and beIN SPORTS.

The fixture brings together two teams preparing for the next stages of their respective campaigns, although their recent starts to the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers have followed different paths.

Comoros seeking further progress

Comoros began their Group G qualifying campaign with a 3-1 defeat by Cameroon. The Cœlacanthes responded in their next match by beating Namibia 1-0.

That victory leaves them second in the group with three points, behind Cameroon. The friendly against Senegal will provide another test as Comoros continue to assess their level ahead of their upcoming competitive matches.

The meeting will also mark the first time the two national teams have played each other. With no previous senior international encounter between them, the match could lay the foundations for a future rivalry.

Senegal building momentum

Senegal are also second in their qualifying group, having collected four points from their opening two games in Group J.

The Lions of Teranga started with a 1-1 draw against Mozambique before recording a 1-0 win over Ethiopia. They currently share second place with Mozambique.

The match in Marseille will give Senegal an opportunity to measure their progress before their next competitive commitments. Their recent victory over Ethiopia has strengthened their momentum, while the squad is led from the bench by Patrick Vieira.

On paper, Senegal go into the game as favourites. Their greater experience, stronger physical profile and attacking options are seen as advantages against a Comoros side described as being in rebuilding phase and still inconsistent.

Africafoot’s prediction is a 3-1 victory for Senegal.

Betting odds listed for the match put Comoros at 5.00 to win, with a draw priced at 3.30 and Senegal at 1.70.
