South Africa name starting XI for Eritrea Africa Cup of Nations qualifier

South Africa will aim to retain top spot in Group D when they face Eritrea in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Al Salam Stadium on 30 September 2026.

Bafana Bafana made a winning start under Pitso Mosimane in his second spell in charge, beating Guinea 2-1 at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday.

That result moved South Africa to the top of the group, and another victory against Eritrea would strengthen their position.

However, only one of South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea can qualify from Group D, with Kenya already guaranteed a place at the tournament as one of the co-hosts.

Eritrea are still searching for their first win in the group. They drew 1-1 with Kenya on Saturday and will be looking to build on that result against South Africa.
