Senegal announce busy schedule of men’s international friendlies

Senegal’s men’s national teams will all play friendly matches during the final days of the international break, with the Football Federation announcing the full programme on Tuesday.

The country is preparing for several international commitments, including the forthcoming FIFA U17 World Cup, the UFOA A U20 tournament and the Africa Cup of Nations U23 qualifiers. Senegal will be represented across each of those competitions and has arranged a series of matches to support its preparations.

Senegal’s U20 side will face the Democratic Republic of the Congo twice in Dakar. The matches will be played at Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium on 1 and 3 October.

The same venue will host two fixtures between Senegal’s U23 team and Gambia. Those matches are scheduled for 3 and 5 October, giving both sides a double opportunity to prepare for their upcoming international commitments.

The Senegal U17 team will travel to Paris for two matches against France on 2 and 4 October. The fixtures form part of the side’s preparations for the FIFA U17 World Cup.

To complete the international break, Senegal’s senior team will play an international friendly against Comoros in Marseille on 4 October. The Lions of Teranga will therefore be in action while the country’s younger age-group teams continue their preparations elsewhere.

Senegal’s beach soccer team, known as the “Lions of the Sand”, are also preparing for the Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations. After playing a three-match series against the United Arab Emirates, the team will now face Nigeria in two matches.

The schedule gives Senegal a full programme across its men’s national teams before the international break concludes.
