Rate Bafana Bafana’s players after Guinea qualifier

Soccer Laduma is inviting readers to rate each Bafana Bafana player out of 10 following their opening 2027 CAF Afcon qualifying match against Guinea at Orlando Amstel Arena Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The match marked Pitso Mosimane’s return to the Bafana Bafana hot seat. He has taken charge from Hugo Broos, whose contract expired at the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The game also provided South Africa’s players with an opportunity to make an impression on their new manager and strengthen their claims for a place in the starting line-up for Wednesday’s second Group D fixture, away to Eritrea in Egypt.

Bafana Bafana will be seeking to remain top of the group by avoiding dropped points in their next match. Eritrea and Kenya drew 1-1 in the other Group D game.

South Africa finished third at the previous Afcon and were eliminated in the Last 16 at the edition before that. Their objective for the next tournament will be to progress further, although qualifying remains the immediate priority for Mosimane and his squad.

Broos made history by guiding Bafana Bafana into the knockout stages of the recent World Cup. It was the first time South Africa had progressed beyond the group stage in their World Cup history.
