Nayef Aguerd ruled out of Morocco’s AFCON 2027 qualifier against Lesotho

Nayef Aguerd has been ruled out of Morocco’s trip to South Africa, where the Lions of the Atlas will face Lesotho in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Morocco defender did not travel with the rest of the squad and will remain in the country as he continues an individual rehabilitation programme at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora.

Aguerd’s recovery work is being supervised on site by members of the Morocco Under-23 national team’s technical staff. The aim is for the defender to return to competitive action in the best possible physical condition.

His absence is a setback for head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, who must now reorganise his central defensive partnership for the fixture.
