Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest enquire about Al Ahli midfielder Valentin Atangana

Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have asked about the situation of Al Ahli midfielder Valentin Atangana, according to L’Equipe.

The 20-year-old France Under-21 international, who is of Cameroonian origin, was the subject of interest from the two Premier League clubs during the most recent summer transfer window.

Atangana came through at Stade de Reims before moving to the Saudi Pro League, where he is continuing his development with Al Ahli. He is under contract with the club until June 2028.

The midfielder reportedly had the opportunity to leave Saudi Arabia this summer and return to European football. His long-term ambition is to come back to Europe in the coming months after his experience in the Saudi Pro League.

During the current international break, Atangana discussed the Saudi league as a stage in his development, with the possibility of eventually joining one of Europe’s leading clubs. His comments reflected his desire to return to the continent.

Atangana is currently valued at 18 million euros by Transfermarkt. He also has ambitions of playing for a major club and competing in the Champions League.

His annual salary is 5 100 000 euros (3 315 000 000 FCFA).
