Malang Sarr reportedly confronted at Marbella hotel after Neom move

Malang Sarr was reportedly confronted at a luxury hotel in Marbella just weeks after joining Saudi Arabian club Neom.

The 27-year-old centre-back is said to have been involved in a dispute with his former adviser over his move to the club. Sarr had joined Neom as a free agent after leaving RC Lens, signing a contract reportedly worth 15m euros net of tax.

According to L’Equipe, the disagreement was linked to a commission the former adviser wanted to receive from the transfer.

Sarr was having dinner with two team-mates in the hotel restaurant in late July when several French nationals allegedly entered the premises. The Senegal international was reportedly jostled and forcibly taken towards the bar.

Witnesses also described an alleged slap, although Sarr denies that he was slapped.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from Sarr posing alongside another agent at the time of his signing. That representative had been appointed by Neom to handle the deal.

The group left the hotel after discovering that security cameras had recorded the confrontation. Police, who had been called by Neom officials, arrived after those involved had already departed.

Sarr did not file a complaint and reportedly refused to pay any compensation. He has since moved on from the incident and is focused on beginning his career with Neom.
