Vuk Rasovic appointed new Al Taawoun head coach after Zamalek links

Al Taawoun have appointed Serbian coach Vuk Rasovic as their new head coach until the end of the current season.

The Saudi club said its board, led by Badr bin Hasan Al-Ghannam, had completed the agreement to bring in the 53-year-old.

Rasovic replaces fellow Serbian Zarko Lazetic, with Al Taawoun currently sitting second from bottom in the Saudi league table.

Rasovic had been close to taking charge of Zamalek at the start of the current season. However, the Egyptian club ultimately decided to keep Moataz Gamal in the role.

Reports from the Saudi website Al Maydan earlier this week had also linked Rasovic with a move to Abha. He was expected to replace Croatian coach Damir Buric, before Al Taawoun confirmed his appointment.

Rasovic’s coaching career

Rasovic began his coaching career in 2006 as an assistant at Serbian club Partizan.

He took charge of Teleoptik in 2011 for his first role as a head coach, before returning to Partizan in 2013 as manager. That spell lasted one season.

The Serbian subsequently managed Belarusian side Dinamo Minsk in 2015.

He has also worked with several clubs in the Arab region, including Saudi Arabian teams Al-Faisaly and Al-Fayha, as well as Al Dhafra, Al Wahda and Kalba in the United Arab Emirates.
