Tunisia midfielder Houssem Gatfia joins CO Medenine

Tunisia attacking midfielder Houssem Gatfia has joined CO Medenine, returning to club football at the age of 27 after a period without a club.

Gatfia’s move was completed on 20 September 2026. The left-footed player stands at 1.94m and operates primarily in the attacking midfield position.

He had been without a club before joining CO Medenine, following his most recent recorded spell with EO Sidi Bouzid. Gatfia joined EO Sidi Bouzid in January 2026 after also being unattached, having previously left Al-Deraa in July 2025.

His career has included football in Tunisia and Libya. Before Al-Deraa, he played for Al-Ahrar SC, AS Marsa, AS Rejiche, Al-Wahda Tripoli and Khaleej Sirte. He also spent time with Club Africain’s Under-21 side and AS Soliman earlier in his career.

Gatfia’s senior record includes 16 appearances in Ligue 1 and one appearance in the Tunisian Cup. His Ligue 1 outings account for 620 minutes, while he played 90 minutes in the cup competition.

He began his career with a loan move from Club Africain Under-21s to AS Soliman in September 2019. The following year, he moved to Khaleej Sirte before switching to Al-Wahda Tripoli in 2021. Gatfia then returned to Tunisia with AS Rejiche in August 2022.

His subsequent move to AS Marsa was completed in September 2023, before he joined Al-Ahrar SC on a free transfer in May 2024. He later moved to Al-Deraa in September of the same year.

The attacking midfielder now adds further experience across Tunisian and Libyan football to the CO Medenine squad. His arrival gives the club a player capable of operating in an advanced midfield role and brings Gatfia back into club football after his latest period as a free agent.
