Stellenbosch FC have brought midfielder Darrel Matsheke back to the club for a second spell in the Winelands.
Matsheke previously played for Stellenbosch during the 2023-24 campaign, making 12 appearances in all competitions. He scored the decisive penalty in the Carling Knockout final shootout against TS Galaxy, helping the club claim their first top-flight trophy.
The midfielder left Stellenbosch after that season and subsequently played for Motsepe Foundation Championship sides Pretoria Callies and Kruger United.
Matsheke said his return represented an opportunity to resume his progress at the club and pursue ambitions he was unable to fulfil during his first spell, particularly in continental competition.
“It feels great to be back at Stellenbosch FC,” Matsheke said.
“I can only thank God for the opportunity, and the club and the coach for trusting me enough to bring me back. I want to pick up where I left off on the field and help the team compete for more.
“I missed out on the opportunity to play in Africa last time, so this is a second chance for me to do more and achieve those goals.”
Matsheke has been given the number 31 shirt and is available for selection for Stellenbosch’s Betway Premiership fixture against his former club Kruger United this weekend.
