Mamelodi Sundowns face Al-Ahli in FIFA African-Asian-Pacific clash

Mamelodi Sundowns meet Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a FIFA African-Asian-Pacific encounter.

The Tshwane club are appearing in this version of the pan-continental tournament for the first time since its launch in 2024. Their only previous participation in a competition of this nature came in the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup, when they were also African champions.

Al-Ahli secured their place in the fixture with a 1-0 victory over Auckland FC in the previous round. That match was played in Jeddah late last month, with the Saudi Arabian club managed by Marino Pusic.

The visitors have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, recording only one win in their last three matches across all competitions.

Mamelodi Sundowns, by contrast, arrive in stronger form. They have won four of their past five games in all competitions, although their latest outing ended in a 1-1 draw away to Chippa United seven days ago after they conceded a late equaliser.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15h00.
