Kaizer Chiefs lose Brandon Petersen and Wandile Duba to injury

Kaizer Chiefs will be without goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and striker Wandile Duba for their Betway Premiership match against Golden Arrows, the club’s final fixture before the upcoming FIFA International break.

Petersen has been ruled out after suffering a knee injury during training on Tuesday morning. The goalkeeper, who has featured in every match since the season began in August, is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks.

The club said Petersen damaged the medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will now begin a rehabilitation programme. His absence comes after the experienced shot-stopper attracted attention for his latest error.

Duba is also facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hip and groin injury. Kaizer Chiefs expect the attacker to miss approximately two weeks.

The player has scored three goals this season and has a minor defect in the affected area. The club’s medical team will assess his progress closely over the coming week before deciding on the next steps in his treatment.

Both Petersen and Duba have played important roles in Kaizer Chiefs’ strong start to the campaign, leaving the team with a double injury setback ahead of the weekend fixture.
