Jordanian midfielder Nizar Al-Rashdan eyes laurels with Moroccan giants Wydad AC
Jordanian midfielder Nizar Al-Rashdan has expressed his excitement after joining Moroccan giants Wydad AC, describing the move as an important milestone in his career and vowing to help the club compete for major honours this season.
The midfielder, who has now worn the Wydad shirt for the first time, said he was delighted to join a club with such a rich history, huge reputation and passionate supporters.
Speaking to Wydad’s official YouTube channel, Al-Rashdan revealed that he was already familiar with the club’s stature before completing his move and admitted that he was extremely happy when he learned of the transfer.
“I knew Wydad’s value and history before coming here, so when I heard about the transfer, I was very happy,” Al-Rashdan said.
The Jordanian believes his move to Wydad represents an important opportunity to demonstrate his abilities and play a role in bringing success and happiness to the club’s supporters.
Al-Rashdan also praised the welcome he received from his new teammates, explaining that their support made his adaptation to the squad much easier.
He singled out Yahya Jabrane, Ayman El Hassouni and Moufid for their assistance during his first days at the club, saying their support helped him quickly become comfortable within the team.
The midfielder has also been impressed by Wydad’s approach on the pitch, particularly the emphasis on high pressing, maintaining possession and attacking the opposition with quick combinations and minimal touches.
He believes the team’s fighting spirit and determination are equally important characteristics that can help Wydad achieve positive results throughout the season.
Al-Rashdan made it clear that the club’s ambitions extend beyond simply competing, with Wydad targeting major silverware.
The Jordanian identified the Moroccan league and Throne Cup as key objectives for the season, while also expressing the desire to restore Wydad’s position among Africa’s elite and secure a return to the CAF Champions League.
According to Al-Rashdan, achieving those targets will require a collective effort from the players, coaching staff and club management, as well as the continued support of the Wydad faithful.
On a personal level, the midfielder wants to contribute through his physical strength, determination and work rate while also helping the team create and score goals.
He stressed that he is prepared to perform both defensive and attacking duties depending on what is required by the coaching staff.
Al-Rashdan also praised Wydad’s coach and his training methods, highlighting the combination of physical and tactical work during sessions.
He believes the coach’s approach can help the team continue improving while also allowing him to make the most of his own qualities on the pitch.
The Jordanian midfielder has therefore set clear targets for his first season with Wydad: winning the league title, lifting the Throne Cup and helping the club return to the CAF Champions League.
He also delivered a message to the Wydad supporters, asking them to remain behind the team throughout the campaign.
Al-Rashdan assured the fans that the players will approach every match with a winning mentality and give their maximum effort as they attempt to bring trophies back to the club and restore Wydad to the continental stage.
