Bruma joins Aris Saloniki on free transfer from Benfica

Portugal and Guinea-Bissau winger Bruma has joined Greek club Aris Saloniki from Benfica on a free transfer, signing a contract until 30 June 2027.

The 31-year-old, who plays primarily on the left wing, completed the move on 14 September and will continue his career in the Greek Super League. Bruma is right-footed and stands at 1.73m.

His arrival in Thessaloniki follows an 18-month spell with Benfica. He joined the Portuguese club from Braga in February 2025 for a fee of €6.5m, having helped Braga win the Portuguese League Cup during the 2023-24 season.

Bruma’s most recent competitive record with Benfica covers the opening part of the 2026-27 campaign, in which he did not make an appearance in either Liga Portugal or Europa League qualifying before moving to Aris.

The winger began his senior career at Sporting, progressing from the club’s youth teams to Sporting B before making the step up to the first team. He moved to Galatasaray in September 2013 for €13m and won the Turkish league, two Turkish Cups and the Turkish Super Cup during his time in Istanbul.

A spell at Real Sociedad followed on loan, before Bruma joined RB Leipzig in 2017 for €15m. He later moved to PSV Eindhoven in 2019 for €12m, winning the Dutch Super Cup and Dutch Cup with the club. His career also included a loan spell at Olympiacos, where he won the Greek title, before a loan move to Fenerbahce became permanent in 2023.

Bruma returned to Portugal with Braga in 2023, initially joining on loan from Fenerbahce before completing a permanent move the following summer. His time at Benfica came after that return, and Aris now become the latest club to secure his services.

At international level, Bruma was part of Portugal’s squad that won the UEFA Nations League in 2019. He also won the Silver Boot at the 2013 European Under-20 qualification tournament, scoring seven goals.

Aris Saloniki have completed the signing of Bruma from Benfica on a free transfer, with the player contracted through June 2027.
