A source within Al-Ahly has shed light on the status of the injured players within the Red Team ahead of their encounter against CR Belouizdad of Algeria in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
According to the source, the chances of striker Wisam Abou Ali making it to the match seem extremely slim at this point despite undergoing an intensive medical program to recover from a hamstring injury.
The source stated, “The closest inclination is to exclude the player due to fear of aggravating the injury.”
Furthermore, it was clarified that right-back Khaled Abdel Fattah will be sidelined from the match after sustaining an injury in the recent friendly against Smouha, where he suffered a foot sprain and will require three weeks to recover.
Additionally, Mahmoud Metwally, a defender for the team, will also miss the Blouzdaad match to continue his rehabilitation process.
The source added, “But he is progressing well in his program after suffering a hamstring injury.”
In response to the injury concerns, coach Marcel Koller granted his players a rest day from training, while conducting a rigorous session for the international players upon their return from the Africa Cup of Nations, in preparation for the Blouzdaad encounter scheduled for February 16th.
Al-Ahly’s management remains vigilant in managing the team’s fitness and well-being, prioritizing the long-term health of the players while striving for success in continental competitions.
