Younes Bakiz joins Raja AC on loan

Raja Athletic Club are closing in on the signing of Danish side Silkeborg’s attacking midfielder Younes Bakiz after reaching an agreement to bring the Moroccan forward to the club on loan during the current summer transfer window.

Raja officials have been keen to secure Bakiz’s services due to his versatility in attack, with the 27-year-old capable of operating in several positions across the frontline.

The Moroccan club opted for a loan arrangement because of Bakiz’s high market value and his existing contract with Silkeborg. Following negotiations between the two clubs, an agreement has now been reached for the player to join Raja on a temporary basis.

Bakiz is yet to complete the move, with the only remaining step being his medical examinations. Once he successfully passes the tests, the necessary administrative procedures will be completed, allowing him to join Raja’s training sessions.

The forward has endured injury problems in recent times, but Raja are hoping he can regain his best form and provide an attacking boost ahead of the new season.

Bakiz can play as a playmaker or winger and is also capable of operating as a centre-forward, giving Raja coach additional options in the final third.

Last season, he made 29 appearances for Silkeborg across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

Raja will now hope to complete the formalities of the deal quickly as they continue preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, the Green Eagles are also working to offload three players this summer, with left-back Amine Khammas, Bilal Ould-Chikh and Papy Ousmane among those linked with departures.
